Pencor is a local corporation of telecommunication companies. Palmerton Telephone, Blue Ridge Communications, television stations TV-13 and Cable 11, The Times News, East Penn Publishing, PenTeleData and ProLog Internet Services comprise this vast reaching communication company. The scholarship is named in honor of the founder of Pencor, Claude E. Reinhard. He was a cable pioneer and a visionary. He built up Pencor from a start-up, shoestring operation to a major company with thriving telecommunication divisions, something that may not have happened if he had not received a college scholarship. It is to honor him that Pencor offers encouragement to other students to further their education. After the awards dinner, the students and their families will be guests of honor at Penn's Peak show which will feature the popular country award winning group, "Lonestar." Lehighton Times News
