    Entropic Communications Inc. said it is providing technology for Comcast Corp.'s new multi-room digital video recording service, potentially giving the company a solid boost in revenue and lifting its shares Friday. Comcast, the nation's largest cable provider with about 25 million subscribers, recently announced on its website that it will be providing an AnyRoom DVR service, allowing subscribers to share all DVD recordings, including HD, with any room in the house.

    The Federal Communications Commission on Thursday launched a formal effort to give itself the clear authority to police Internet-service providers by changing the way Internet lines are regulated.
